The Early Word: Voting for Participatory Budgeting Starts Today

Join Compost for Brooklyn's block party planning committee, beware of the recently milled Park Drive and more.

1. Community Board 12 will hold its monthly meeting today at 7 p.m. at the AMICO Senior Center, located at 5901 13th Ave. on the third floor. All members of the community are invited to attend. 

2. Today marks the first day that residents can vote on Brad Lander's , in which the community chooses the neighborhood improvement project that gets a $1 million boost. Cast your vote at Lander's district office, located on the third floor of 456 5th Ave., today through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Check out Lander's website for more voting dates and locations. 

3. Compost for Brooklyn is looking for volunteers to join its annual block party planning committee. The first meeting will be held on Thursday, March 29 at 7 p.m. E-mail compostforbrooklyn@gmail.com for more information.

4. As a reminder, the Department of Transportation is in the process of milling and repaving Prospect Park's drive from Park Circle to the Ocean/Parkside entrance, so watch out for uneven pavement if you walk, bike or run. 

5. Alternate side parking rules are in effect in Kensington, and suspended in much of Windsor Terrace. for more information on the streets affected.
