Week in Review: March 26 - April 1

A concise look back at the last week.

Happy April Fool's Day, everybody. It's the end of the weekend and we're too sleepy for pranks, so let's just get right into our weekly recap of some of the notable stories from the last few days.

Monday:

A handful of car break-ins plagued the over the past week. The true bummer of the bunch came from a man who retrieved his car from an impound lot only to discover that his camera had been stolen from inside.

Tuesday:

from Councilman Brad Lander, D-Park Slope, confirms what many local parents already know: Thanks to budget cuts and a shortage of teachers, the number of elementary school students in classes of 30 or more has tripled in the last three years.

Wednesday:

courtesy of Occupy Wall Street protesters, who pulled open the security gates at Fort Hamilton Parkway station and waved commuters through. The incident was repeated at at least two other stations around the city, .

Thursday:

Park Slope resident Joe Delfausse is on a mission to educate the neighborhood about the night sky, one passer-by at a time. Thursday night offered residents a glimpse at the heavens through Delfausse's telescope, but the longtime amateur astronomer soon hopes to make "sidewalk astronomy" a regular occurrence around town.  

Friday:

The Pavillion has seen better days. Not only was the aging theater accused of mistreating an American flag flying from above its marquee, but it also allegedly oversold tickets to the premiere of the highly anticipated film "Hunger Games." Between vexed veterans and short-shrifted tweens, is there anyone the theater hasn't offended? And what can be done to restore its reputation around the neighborhood? .
