2 Kids In Vehicle When Westchester Woman Arrested On Felony DWI Charge: Police

The 40-year-old Yorktown Heights woman was arrested after police received a report of a motor vehicle accident with possible injuries.

YORKTOWN, NY — A Westchester County woman was arrested on a felony charge after potentially putting the lives of two children at risk, according to Yorktown police.

The Yorktown Police Department says that a 40-year-old Yorktown Heights resident was arrested and charged with felony aggravated driving while intoxicated (child in car); misdemeanor driving while intoxicated (1st offense); misdemeanor endangering the welfare of a child; and several traffic infractions.

On Saturday, around 2:48 p.m., officers responded to the area of Route 6 and Sunnyside Street, after receiving a report about a motor vehicle accident with possible injuries.

The driver was identified as Judith A. Lena. Police said that Lena was driving while intoxicated with two children (under the age 15) in the vehicle.

She was arrested and taken to the Yorktown Police Department for processing.

The children were handed over to the custody of a relative, according to police.

After processing, Lena was arraigned, and the judge issued a temporary order of protection on behalf of the victims. Lena was released on her own recognizance to a responsible adult, and is due back in the Yorktown Justice Court on Dec. 4.
