2 Southern Westchester Women Accused Of Theft

Police said the women had more than $3,000 worth of stolen merchandise during a traffic stop on the Taconic State Parkway.

YORKTOWN, NY — Two southern Westchester women were accused of stealing thousands of dollars worth of merchandise after being stopped on the Taconic State Parkway.

The Yorktown Police Department said, around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, an officer conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle on the Taconic parkway.

During the investigation, the officer said he discovered stolen merchandise within the car, with a total value of more than $3,000.

The police called the owner of the merchandise who verified it was not only stolen but was stolen minutes before the traffic stop.

It was also found that the vehicle’s registration was suspended, according to the police.

Police arrested Linda Jackson, 51, of Yonkers, and Syiesha Tyshira Divine Jackson, 30, of Mount Vernon, and charged them both with third-degree grand larceny and third-degree criminal possession of stolen property, felonies.

Cele Petersen, 22, of Yonkers, was arrested and charged with operating with a suspended registration, a misdemeanor.

The trio was processed on the charges and released on their own recognizance.

Both Jacksons were arraigned in the Yorktown Justice Court to return April 4. Petersen is due to return to the Yorktown Justice Court April 2.
