YORKTOWN, NY — A high school game is causing concerns for students' safety as police hunt for masked suspects in a home break-in.

The Yorktown Police Department says that on Thursday, between 7-7:30 p.m., three masked suspects forcibly and illegally entered a home on Briar Hill Street.

The masked suspect in a photo circulated by Yorktown police remained at the front door, while the other two suspects forced entry into the unoccupied home from the back, police said. The burglary was interrupted by the homeowner, after which the suspects fled the scene.

Police say one of the masked suspects was confirmed to be a white male who spoke with an accent.

In addition, police have identified a suspect vehicle, a dark-colored Nissan Pathfinder with Mississippi license plates, and have been working with the NYPD, the FBI, Westchester County and NYS law enforcement partners, to locate the vehicle and suspects.

Yorktown police thanked residents who shared home security video footage with them, and ask that anyone else who lives in the Briar Hill Street area review their home security systems for Thursday evening footage.

Police also reminded parents whose children are participating in the viral high school "assassination game," in which students attempt to "tag out" other seniors, to consider asking them to stop playing the game. The concern is that a teen participating in the game could easily be confused with the suspect at-large in the photo, according to police.
