3rd Annual Wiffleball Tournament, Home Run Derby Oct. 17

Grab your family and friends and form a team to play in Yorkville Sports Association’s third annual Wifftoberfest Wiffle Ball tournament on Saturday.

“You’ll have a fantastic time participating in a family-oriented event that benefits Yorktown’s Alliance for Safe Kids (“ASK”) says YSA Westchester League Director Tom Cavalieri.

ASK is a collaboration in the Yorktown community aimed at providing youth with the information and skills needed to make healthy decisions, and emphasizing the need for families to protect and nurture children by getting informed and staying involved.

“We are proud to stand with ASK in support of area youth” Cavalieri said.

The tournament will be held at Navajo Fields at the Yorktown Sports Complex, which is donating the fields. All ages are welcome and every player will receive a free t-shirt. The cost for the Open division is $120/team, and the Family division is $100/team. Team check in starts at 9 A.M. Oct. 17 and the first game begins at 10 A.M.

In addition to Navajo Fields, sponsors include Dave & Busters of Pelham Manor, D. Bertoline & Sons, Frankie & Augie’Z Ristorante, Sonic Sports, Turco’s and Yorkville Sports Association.

The first place team in the Open division will receive $500 cash and a trophy, with trophies awarded to the second and third place teams. The first place team in the Family Division will receive $250 in gift certificates and a trophy, with trophies going to the second and third place teams.

The event includes a Home Run Derby, allowing Wiffleballers to demonstrate their prowess with the long ball. The Home Run Derby is open to everyone – including those not participating in the tournament – and will run from 10 A.M. to 3 P.M., so stop by and donate to a great cause! The Home Run Derby prize is a 50/50 split. The champion will also win a trophy and the admiration of his or her fellow players!
