A dozen quarters laid side-by-side measures a foot. The team is trying to gather at least 15,840 quarters and collect $3960. Jean Scanlon has been involved in Yorktown Relay for 5 years and is looking forward to fighting cancer one foot at a time.

"We figured by starting this early in the season, we have a shot of reaching our goal," she said. "There are 36,000 people in Yorktown. If we can collect a quarter from each person, we will have exceeded our goal and raised  over $9,000 to fight cancer!"
