In recognition of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, is joining with 13 Simon Property Group malls in the New York and New Jersey region to Paint the Mall Pink, a grassroots program designed to highlight breast cancer awareness that will feature a combination of educational displays, health fairs, special events, retailer offerings and a variety of other pink elements throughout the malls during the month of October.
“As part of our ongoing commitment to give back to the community, we wanted to come up with a way to address this important health issue that affects so many women,” said Lauren Penchina, director of marketing and business development for Jefferson Valley Mall. “We believe our Paint the Mall Pink program will accomplish that by incorporating our retail environment with an assortment of ‘pink-themed’ activities that will help increase the level of consciousness about breast cancer.”

This year, Support Connection, a local not-for-profit organization that provides free services, programs and support for women affected by breast and ovarian cancer as well as their families, is teaming up with Jefferson Valley Mall on a number of events and activities planned
Spirit of Hope Wall – October 2 – October 31 Upper Level. Special tags created by Support Connection will allow shoppers to write their own message and place them on our wall in honor or memory of a friend or family member in tribute to cancer survivors everywhere. All donations will benefit Support Connection.

Shoppers will also be able to stop by the Support Connection table, placed near the Spirit of Hope Wall to speak with organization volunteers, pick-up information and write their special messages.
Health Fair – Saturday, October 22 from 12 noon to 5:00 p.m. in and around Center Court.
Representatives from Sears, one of the mall’s anchor tenants, will provide exercise equipment demonstrations, beauty makeovers and free product sampling. Popular WABC-TV Channel 7/ WPLJ-FM Radio meteorologist Bill Evans will be on hand greeting guests and signing copies of his new book Dry Ice.
Local organizations, including Hudson Valley Hospital Center, New York Life Insurance, New Image Weight Loss Center, Desert Moon and others, will also showcase their products and services focused on health and wellness. In addition, Hudson Valley Blood Bank will be holding a blood drive and Drum Hill Senior Living Community will provide free blood pressure screenings. Attendees will also receive a free bag of Pink Chips.
Pink Chips is a sponsor of the National Breast Cancer Coalition and 70 percent of net proceed from the sale of this product goes to the fight against breast cancer.
Additionally, throughout October, a host of mall retailers will be offering special Paint the Mall Pink discounts on select merchandise and services, Shoppers can also receive a free pink ribbon from Support Connection at Guest Services throughout October while supplies last.
