Each year in Yorktown, one event brings the entire community together to take part in the fight against cancer.
That event is the American Cancer Society Relay For Life. Relay For Life is a time and place where people come to celebrate those who have survived cancer, remember those who've lost, and fight back against the disease that touches too many lives.
At Relay, teams of people camp out at a local high school, park, or fairground and take turns walking or running around a track or path.

Because cancer never sleeps, Relays are overnight events up to 24 hours in length.Relayers do not have to walk all night, but each team is asked to have a representative on the track at all times during the event.
To get the 2012 Relay For Life Season started and learn more about Relay For Life, you can attend their annual Kick-Off on Thursday, Feb. 9 at 6:30 p.m. at Travelers Rest (Route 100, Ossining).
