Children from Northern Westchester, Putnam and Dutchess Counties, will take part in the baking of Passover matzah (unleavened bread) at Temple Beth Shalom in Mahopac on Wednesday, March 28 from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Matzah is traditionally eaten by Jewish people during the week of Passover (this year, April 6-14), commemorating the Exodus from Egyptian slavery described in the biblical narrative.
The outdoor Matzah oven was built by members of the Temple Beth Shalom congregation as part of their Passover preparations.

Additionally, members of the local Christian houses of worship are expected to partake in the Matzah baking as they deepen their understanding of the life of Jesus. Jesus, tradition teaches, took part in a Passover Seder meal that has since become known as the "Last Supper." This hands-on, religious experience for students of multiple faiths characterizes the local strong interfaith relationships.
Temple Beth Shalom is located at 760 Route 6 (the corner of Croton Falls Rd) in Mahopac.
