Yorktown Democratic Party Endorses Richard Becker for Congress

The Yorktown Democratic Committee has unanimously endorsed as its choice in the Democratic Congressional primary.

Since the start of February, every local Democratic committee in the 19th District to endorse a candidate for Congress has backed Becker; Peekskill, Cortlandt, and Pound Ridge all endorsed him last month. In addition to his growing lead in local endorsements, Becker also has a decisive 8-1 cash-on-hand advantage over his closest Democratic rival as of the most recent FEC filings.

“The overwhelming support for Dr. Becker here in Yorktown is the latest sign that Democrats in the district are rallying behind his campaign as the best equipped to defeat Tea Party Republican Nan Hayworth this fall,” said Ron Stokes, Chair of the Yorktown Democrats. “We were impressed with his determination to whole-heartedly stand up for Democratic values and blown away by his knowledge of the issues. On creating jobs, protecting the middle class, reforming health care, preserving Social Security and Medicare, and defending women’s reproductive freedom, he’ll go toe-to-toe with Nan Hayworth.”

“The Hudson Valley needs a Representative who will represent the people here - not the Republican party leaders in Washington,” Ron Stokes continued. “Becker will be an independent voice and leader who’ll stand up to politics as usual; he’s been doing it throughout the Hudson Valley for the last 30 years. With all of this speculation around redistricting, one thing rang clear and true last night: Yorktown wants Richard Becker to represent us in Washington. He has an admirable record of solving tough problems and facing down powerful interests, and he won’t be afraid to fight for us.”
