CT Man Drives Drunk With Open Container In Car: Police

Police were initially called to check out a disabled vehicle in the roadway.

YORKTOWN, NY — A Connecticut man was arrested after being accused of drunken driving and having an open alcoholic beverage in his car.

The Yorktown Police Department said Phillip K. Walsh, 45, of Stamford, Connecticut, was arrested Monday and charged with driving while intoxicated, first offense, a misdemeanor, and possess an open container of alcoholic beverage in a vehicle, a traffic infraction.

Police said, shortly before 6:30 a.m. March 2, officers were sent to a disabled vehicle in the roadway at the intersection of Underhill Avenue and Route 118.

Walsh was identified as the driver, police said, and was found to be driving while intoxicated and had an open container of alcohol in his vehicle.

He was arrested and taken to Hudson Valley Hospital for medical care.

After refusing medical care at the hospital, Walsh was taken to Yorktown Police Headquarters for arrest processing.

He was issued uniform traffic tickets for the charges and released on his own recognizance.

Walsh is scheduled to appear in Yorktown Justice Court on March 21.
