A parent's greatest nightmare is to lose their child. From the moment the child is born, parents take great caution to protect and keep their child from danger. As the child gets older and more independent the parent’s ability to protect is less. When a child dies, no matter how it happens the pain of loss is great. Several families in Yorktown have had such a loss. Some have used their loss to help so others might not.
Jeffrey Veatch, who lost his son at age 17, will speak to teens and parents on Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at 7 p.m. at the Yorktown Teen Center.
“A Message from Justin” is a 40 minute multi-media presentation about what happened to Justin and how young people can take better care of themselves. The talk offers advice on how facing adversity can be used as a tool for the good of all. Appropriate for all ages but is most relevant to 13 to 16 year olds and their parents.
