Tatiana Ferraro's “Flora and Fauna” Exhibit Opens to the Public at the Hart Library with a Wine and Cheese Reception

is pleased to announce an exhibit "Flora and Fauna" artist Tatiana Ferraro. The Hart Library, Yorktown's Community Library, is located at 1130 East Main Street, Shrub Oak, New York.  It is open from Monday-Thursday 9:30-8:00 and Friday and Saturday 9:30-5:00. Tatiana Ferraro was born in Poland to Ukrainian parents displaced during World War II, and came to the U.S. when she was four years old.

She spent her formative years on Manhattan's Lower East Side, attending St. George Grammar School and The High School of Performing Arts, where she majored in ballet. Tatiana also studied piano at the Third Street Settlement Music School, and is a skilled performer and accompanist.

She earned her Master's Degree in Political Science from St. John's University. Upon graduation she pursued a career in education, spending 22 years as a high school Social Studies teacher and 16 more as a school principal.

Always interested in the arts, Tatiana turned to watercolors, originally as a means of releasing the stresses of being a school administrator. Her painting has been extremely important to her ever since.

Tatiana is grateful to her instructors, Lynn Schulman and Janice Cianflone, who have encouraged her growth and helped her to develop her technique. Her hobbies of gardening and travel provide inspiration for her painting.

Tatiana exhibited her paintings in Katonah at the Women Supporting Women Art Show in September 2009 and at the KMAA Members' 2010 Juried Exhibition at the Carriage Barn Arts Center in New Canaan, Connecticut. Tatiana lives with her husband in Yorktown Heights.
