Rachel Scott was the first person killed at Columbine High School on April 20, 1999. Her acts of kindness and compassion, coupled with the contents of her six diaries, were inspiration for her family to found a non-violence school program to inspire, equip and empower a permanent positive culture change.
On Thursday, October 28, students at the Mildred E. Strang Middle School will participate in Rachel' s Challenge, (grade 6 and high school students new to the district) and Rachel' s Legacy (grades 7 and 8). On Friday, October 29, students at Yorktown High School will participate in Rachel' s Legacy.
This is the second year that all secondary students have participated in programs designed to help improve character and prevent bullying. At both the middle and high school, the presentations are sponsored by the F. Cecil Grace Foundation " Operation Positive Role Model Grant."

Students will attend assemblies, and afterwards a representative sample of students will participate in interactive training sessions to continue activities that promote positive and helpful relationships in the schools and community. For more information, please visit www.rachelschallenge.org.
