Felony Charge For Violating Order of Protection Twice In 5 Years

A Lake Peekskill resident was arrested in Yorktown.

YORKTOWN, NY — A Lake Peekskill man is accused of violating an order of protection for the second time in five years, Yorktown police said.

Asked to do a welfare check on Aug. 4, Yorktown police arrived at the scene and found a man with a woman. A check discovered there was an order of protection out from the Cortlandt Town Court forbidding him from being in her presence, police said.

He was arrested and taken to Yorktown Police Headquarters, where it was found that he had a previous conviction for violating an order of protection, police said.

A new, temporary order of protection was issued on behalf of the woman.

Francis Wheeler, 36 was charged with first degree contempt of court, a felony, and released for a future court date, police said.
