Firefighter Injured in House Fire on Dogwood Drive in Yorktown

The cause and origin of the fire at 1740 Dogwood Drive is still being investigated. One firefighter sustained minor injuries, no one else was hurt.

One firefighter sustained minor injuries while fighting a blaze that damaged a two-story house in Yorktown this afternoon.

Flames were shooting out of the attic on the second floor of the 1740 Dogwood Drive home when firefighters were called to the scene. A neighbor across the street reported the fire.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire in about 10 minutes and checked to make sure there was no one in the house, Yorktown First Assistant Fire Chief Doug Gollogly said.

The cause of the fire has not been determined yet, but Gollogly said the fire does not appear suspicious. After the fire was extinguished, Westchester County Fire Investigator Eric DiBartolo went into the attic to determine a cause.

Gollogly said Yorktown's building department inspectors would determine if the house was inhabitable.
