Heavy Rains, Possible Thunderstorms Forecast For Hudson Valley
Hazardous weather outlooks were issued for much of the region.

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Heavy rain and possible thunderstorms are headed to the Hudson Valley Thursday as a strong cold front moves through the region.
The National Weather Service has issued hazardous weather outlooks for the entire Hudson Valley for Thursday.
For Orange, Putnam, Rockland and Westchester counties, the forecast calls for locally heavy rainfall Thursday afternoon though Thursday night.

The main threat from this rainfall will be from minor urban and poor drainage flooding. Localized flash flooding is also possible, especially in the evening.
Isolated thunderstorms with the cold front could bring locally strong to potentially damaging winds, with the greatest threat from the New York City metro/Hudson River corridor on west.

For Columbia, Ulster and Dutchess counties, the cold front will bring moderate to heavy rainfall with isolated thunderstorms Thursday afternoon into Thursday night.
Some flooding of urban and poor drainage areas is possible, along with localized flash flooding. Gusty winds are likely Thursday into the night. That could result in downed branches and small limbs.
Isolated instances of severe wind gusts to 60 miles per hour cannot be ruled out in thunderstorms.
Here is the forecast from the National Weather Service for northern Westchester County through the weekend:
- Thursday: A 50 percent chance of showers after 8am. Cloudy, with a high near 68. South wind 7 to 11 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph.
- Thursday Night: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 2am, then a chance of showers. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds and heavy rain. Low around 53. Southeast wind 5 to 11 mph becoming west after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.
- Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 66. Calm wind becoming west 5 to 7 mph in the morning.
- Friday Night: Clear, with a low around 43. Light northwest wind.
- Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 67. Calm wind becoming south 5 to 8 mph in the afternoon.
- Saturday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 49.
- Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 67.
- Sunday Night: A 30 percent chance of showers after 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 48.
