SHRUB OAK, NY — Lakeland school officials hope to start a fulltime pre-kindergarten program in the fall of 2024. The district has a half-time pre-k program now, serving about 70 students in either morning or afternoon sessions.
Superintendent Karen Gagliardi said a request had been sent out for proposals for pre-K providers, Halston Media News reported on TapInto Somers. If it is successful, the district plans to hold an online lottery in February for 72 available slots.
There were 345 children enrolled in the district's kindergarten in 2022-23, according to the New York State Education Department.
