Man Nabbed In Yonkers After Stealing A Vehicle Valued At $5K In Yorktown: Police
The 48-year-old was charged with felony third-degree grand larceny and released on his own recognizance.

YORKTOWN, NY — It might not have been an especially coveted vehicle, but it was grand theft, according to police.
The Yorktown Police Department says that a 48-year-old Yonkers resident was arrested and charged with felony third-degree grand larceny.
On Oct. 13, Yorktown police received a report about a possibly stolen vehicle. After an investigation, police alleged that Jason Popowich stole a vehicle, valued at $5,000. Yorktown police then applied for and received a warrant for Popowich's arrest.

On Friday, Yorktown police were notified by the Yonkers Police Department that they had Popowich in custody. Yorktown officers then headed to Yonkers to take custody of Popowich and bring him back to Yorktown Police Department headquarters for processing.
After arraignment, Popowich was released on his own recognizance and is due back in the Yorktown Justice Court on Thursday.
