Alice Roker, former Town Clerk and former Town Council Member, said: "I wholeheartedly endorse the New Day slate of Jann Mirchandani, Diana Quast, Tom Marron and Steve Shaw. These individuals are dedicated, driven and bring a broad spectrum of experiences to the table that Yorktown needs right now. We especially need their expertise as we confront serious environmental challenges, new financial difficulties, and infrastructure that is in dire need of repair. Perhaps most importantly, we need new ethics legislation that will provide more transparency towards how the Town spends its money. I believe the New Day slate can deliver, and will be supporting them on November 7th."
Vishnubhai Patel, Former Town Council Member, said: "When I was serving the Town, it was my goal to vote on projects and priorities that were necessary to the Town. This year, I will be casting my vote for the New Day slate of Jann Mirchandani, Diana Quast, Tom Marron and Steve Shaw. The New Day slate has shown their dedication to Yorktown, and we need their expertise in order to keep our community one of the finest in this Country."
Jann Mirchandani said: “I am proud that our slate was endorsed by 1199 SEIU, SWAC PAC, and the WPCLB. And I am proud to have been personally endorsed by the Sierra Club and Eleanor’s Legacy. The Sierra Club rarely endorses in local elections: This year in Yorktown, after record flooding and years of overdevelopment, the environment is on the ballot.”
Diana Quast said: “Through my eight years as Town Clerk, I’ve worked to keep costs down for Yorktown, and to make sure that our local government is as accessible as possible. Endorsements by 1199 SEIU, SWAC PAC and the WPCLB underline the broad support our slate has secured. I am honored to have been personally endorsed by Eleanor’s Legacy, as well as the Westchester Putnam Building & Construction Trades, which underlines the work I have done to support the working people that live here in Yorktown.”
Tom Marron said: “I am proud to have secured support from so many crucial union organizations, including 1199 SEIU, SWAC PAC and the WPCLB. I am also honored to have been endorsed by the Graham School Federation of Teachers, where I’ve worked for 18 years. In order to deliver for the people of Yorktown, you need to be in touch with the needs of the working men and women that live here. The support of these organizations underscore that our slate is doing their best to make things better for the folks that live here.”
Steve Shaw said: “Our slate has been working hard to connect with Yorktown’s residents. Over the last 6 months, we’ve knocked on over 12,000 doors and spoken with over 4,500 voters. These endorsements show that our values and positions are connecting with the people that live here. If elected, I think I speak for all of us when I say that we will work as hard as we can to deliver for Yorktown and it’s people.”
The 'New Day for Yorktown’ slate are working on solutions for Yorktown as this year’s election continues to unfold: Early voting began Saturday, October 28th and will run through Sunday, November 5th. Election day is Tuesday, November 7th.
