New Yorkers Can Sign Up Now For 'I Love My Park Day'

The 11th annual event is a volunteer initiative to enhance parks, historic sites and public lands throughout New York.

NEW YORK — If you have a favorite state park and want to give back, you can register now for the 11th annual I Love My Park Day taking place Saturday, May 7.

The volunteer event will happen at state parks, historic sites and public lands across New York.

It's sponsored by the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation, the Department of Environmental Conservation and Parks & Trails New York and is an initiative to enhance parks, historic sites and public lands and raise awareness and visibility to the state outdoor recreation asset and their needs.

Activities include preparing the public lands for spring by cleaning up parklands and beaches, planting trees and gardens, restoring trails and wildlife habitats, removing invasive species and working on various site improvement projects

Volunteers can participate in the events at nearly 150 state parks from Long Island to western New York, covering all regions in between.
