Nicole Bringing Heavy Rain, Possible Flooding To Parts Of HV
Power companies are warning that scattered outages are possible as Nicole moves through the Hudson Valley.

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Rain gear will be important to have handy Friday and Saturday throughout the Hudson Valley as now-Tropical Cyclone Nicole makes its way into the region.
From Poughkeepsie to New Rochelle, rain and winds are in the forecast.
How much rain are we looking at? Hudson Valley Weather is forecasting totals between 0.75 inch to 1.25 inches, with higher elevation parts of the Catskills seeing 2 to 3 inches.

“Winds will be quite gusty at times across the region with 20-40 mph gusts,” said Alex Marra and Bill Potter of Hudson Valley Weather. “Please be mindful of leaves in gutters and storm drains and use caution during this evening’s commute and Saturday morning travel as these two periods will be heavily impacted by weather.”
The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for Columbia, Ulster and Dutchess counties through Saturday morning.

For Friday, the mid-Hudson Valley can expect moderate to heavy rainfall during the afternoon through Saturday morning. There could be some minor urban, poor drainage and small stream flooding and isolated flash flooding.
Southerly winds gusting to 30 to 40 mph Friday night could result in isolated downed tree limbs and power lines.
Hazardous weather continues into Saturday morning for the mid-Hudson Valley as gusty winds and heavy downpours accompany a cold front.

For the rest of the Hudson Valley, the forecast calls for showers mainly after 10 a.m. Friday, with showers and possibly a thunderstorm Friday night. Winds gusts could be as high as 23 mph during the day and as high as 37 mph at night.
Saturday could see showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 10 a.m. and a slight chance of showers until 1 p.m.
Coolers temperatures will be ushered in on Sunday, with mostly sunny skies, making it the better day of the weekend. FYI, just northwest of the Hudson Valley, there is the possibility of snow showers.
All power companies have issued warnings that scattered power outages could occur over the course of the storm as the winds ramp up.
Here is the forecast through the weekend for northern Westchester from the National Weather Service:
- Veterans Day: Showers, mainly after 10am. High near 68. Light south wind becoming southeast 5 to 10 mph in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 23 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
- Friday Night: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds and heavy rain. Low around 64. South wind 14 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 37 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.
- Saturday: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 10am, then a slight chance of showers between 10am and 1pm. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds and heavy rain. Temperature rising to near 67 by 11am, then falling to around 61 during the remainder of the day. Southwest wind 9 to 14 mph becoming west in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 32 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
- Saturday Night: A 20 percent chance of showers after 1am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 42. Northwest wind around 7 mph.
- Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 50. Northwest wind 7 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph.
- Sunday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 32.
