Nicole To Usher In Rain, Colder Weather To Hudson Valley

The region will have a couple of cool but dry days, and then the rain moves into the Hudson Valley.

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Cooler but dry weather is on tap for the next couple of days — until what is left of Nicole makes its way into the region.

The system has shifted north over the last 24 hours, according to Alex Marra and Bill Potter of Hudson Valley Weather.

They said it could end up along or west of the Interstate 95 corridor.

“The impacts for our region would be felt Friday night into Saturday with the potential for gusty winds and heavy rainfall amounts of 1-3" possible,” Hudson Valley Weather said.

Time will tell where Nicole with end up, but it likely will bring in colder weather.

For Wednesday and Thursday, there should be sunny and mostly sunny days with highs ranging from the mid-50s to low 60s. Overnight lows will dip to the mid- to low 30s and mid- to low-40s.

Rain moves in on Veterans Day and could be heavy at times Friday night. Precip could continue into Saturday.

Columbia, Ulster and Dutchess counties even have a hazardous weather outlook in place as Nicole is expected to cause minor flooding in urban and poor drainage areas. There could also be scattered flash flooding due to repeated bands of heavy rainfall.

Here is the forecast through the weekend for northern Westchester County from the National Weather Service:

  • Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 53. Light and variable wind.
  • Wednesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 38. Calm wind.
  • Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 61. Southwest wind 3 to 8 mph.
  • Thursday Night: Increasing clouds, with a low around 48. Light southwest wind.
  • Veterans Day: Rain likely, mainly after 1pm. Cloudy, with a high near 68. Light southeast wind increasing to 5 to 10 mph in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
  • Friday Night: Rain. The rain could be heavy at times. Steady temperature around 64. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.
  • Saturday: Rain likely, mainly before 10am. Partly sunny, with a high near 67. Chance of precipitation is 60%.
  • Saturday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 40.
  • Sunday: Partly sunny, with a high near 48.
  • Sunday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 31.
