NJ Man Snatched $1300 Cellphone From Counter At Hudson Valley 7-Eleven: Police

The 38-year-old was soon captured after CCTV footage helped Yorktown police identify the suspect and his vehicle.

YORKTOWN, NY — A suspect in a theft at a convenience store may have bitten off more than he could chew, according to police in Westchester.

The Yorktown Police Department says that a 38-year-old man from West New York, New Jersey was charged with felony fourth-degree grand larceny.

On Tuesday, around 12:03 p.m., officers responded to the 7-Eleven on Commerce St, after receiving a report of the theft.

Once at the scene, police soon determined that the suspect, later identified as 38-year-old Manuel Criollo Tuba, entered the store and stole a cellphone off the counter valued at $1,299.99.

Officers were able to view CCTV footage and obtain a vehicle description for Tuba's vehicle.

While canvassing the area, an officer spotted the suspect vehicle in the parking lot on Downing Dr.

After speaking with the driver and confirming he was the same suspect seen in the CCTV footage, officers arrested Tuba and took him to Yorktown Police Department headquarters for processing.

He was issued an appearance ticket to appear in the Yorktown Justice Court on August 12.
