No Turn Signal Leads To No-License Accusation

YORKTOWN, NY — A Peekskill man was accused of driving without a license after failing to signal making a turn.

The Yorktown Police Department said Leon Clement Jr., 40, of Peekskill, was charged Saturday with second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, a misdemeanor, and fail to signal, a traffic infraction.

Police said around 1:30 a.m. Saturday an officer said he saw a car make a left turn from Route 6 onto Barger Street without signaling.

The car was stopped and Clement was identified as the driver, police said.

A computer check at the scene found his privilege to drive in New York had been suspended more than three times on three separate dates, according to the authorities.

Clement was arrested and taken to the Yorktown Police Headquarters for processing.

He was issued traffic tickets and released on his own recognizance.

Clement is scheduled to answer the charge in the Yorktown Justice Court May 10.
