Peekskill Man Accused Of Trying To Rob Gas Station Convenience Store
Police said the man also injured a store employee in the process.

YORKTOWN, NY — A Peekskill man was accused of trying to rob a gas station convenience store.
The Yorktown Police Department said Shakye R. Baker, 23, of Peekskill, was charged Thursday with second-degree attempted robbery, a felony.
Police said, around 1:15 p.m. Thursday, officers were sent to the Shell gas station and car wash at 3709 Crompond Rd. for a disturbance.

The investigation found Baker was trying to hide store merchandise, but when confronted by an employee, he injured the employee's wrist and shoulder, police said.
Baker then fled from the scene in a car, according to authorities.

Yorktown police put out descriptions of the vehicle and Baker. Police were assisted by the Westchester County Real Time Crime Center, the City of Peekskill Police Department and the New York State Police.
The car and Baker were found a short time later on the Bear Mountain Parkway by Peekskill police and were detained.
Baker was arrested and taken to the Yorktown Police Department where he was processed on the attempted robbery charge.
The judge issued an order of protection for the victim and Baker was released on his own recognizance.
He is scheduled to appear in the Yorktown Justice Court May 5.
