Postal Worker Accused of Selling Pot Pleads Not Guilty

James Kirk was arrested on May 25 for allegedly selling marijuana out of his work vehicle.

A postal officer worker who was charged with selling marijuana to an undercover police officer while delivering mail on his route in Yorktown pleaded not guilty in court Thursday night.

James Kirk, 21, of Carmel, is charged with two counts each of third-degree criminal sale of marijuana, a felony, and fifth-degree criminal possession of marijuana, a misdemeanor. He was arrested at his home on May 25 and released on $2,500 bail.

He is accused of selling an ounce of marijuana on two separate occasions. An investigation into Kirk was begun by the Westchester County police Narcotics Unit, Yorktown Police Department and the U.S Postal Service's Office of the Inspector after information was developed that Kirk was selling marijuana from his work vehicle, said Westchester County police spokesman Kieran O'Leary.
