Putnam Woman Drives Without License, Interlock Device: PD
Police said it all started with a noisy muffler in Yorktown.

YORKTOWN, NY — A Putnam Valley woman was accused of driving without a license and not having an operational interlock device.
The Yorktown Police Department said Athalia Brito Mesa, 29, of Putnam Valley, was charged Wednesday with second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and circumvent interlock device, misdemeanors, and inadequate muffler and unlicensed operator, traffic infractions.
Police said, shortly after noon Wednesday, an officer on Route 6 said he noticed a car with a noisy muffler.

He conducted a traffic stop and found that Mesa was driving with a revoked New York state license. She was also using the car without a court-mandated interlock device.
Mesa was arrested and processed at the scene.

She was issued traffic tickets and released on her own recognizance to appear in the Yorktown Justice Court April 28.
