Services Set For Former Somers Fire Chief Irwin Schriro

Schriro died Sunday after a short illness at the age of 63.

SOMERS, NY — Funeral services have been announced for Irwin W. Schriro, the former chief and commissioner of the Somers Volunteer Fire Department.

Schriro died Sunday after a short illness at the age of 63.

Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and 6 p.m to 8 p.m. Saturday. Funeral and Firematic services will take place at 7 p.m. They will be held at the Joseph J. Smith Funeral Home, 692 U.S. Route 6 in Mahopac.

Private cremation services will take place at a later time.

Schriro, who was born in Mount Kisco, began his volunteer fire service with the Bedford Hills Volunteer Fire Department.

After moving to Somers, he joined the Somers Volunteer Fire Department where he was a life member, ex-chief and former commissioner.

Schriro was also a member of the Putnam Northern Westchester Fire Police Association and Red Knights Motorcycle Club NY Chapter VII.

He is survived by his wife Suzann, his son and daughter and their spouses, as well as a sister and grandchildren.
