1. Tween Cuisine at Hilltop Hanover Farm

Tween Cuisine cooking classes are now being offered at Hilltop Hanover Farm on three Thursdays next month – Sept. 13, Sept. 20 and Sept. 27 from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. The classes are open to kids 12 to 15 who would like to learn about cooking techniques and healthy eating habits with chef and nutrition education Mary Opfer. The fee for the 3-session series is $15. The class is limited to 15 people. Register online.

2. Book Clearance Sale at the Library Ends Today

Cool off with a hot book from the John C. Hart Memorial Library. The book clearance sale ends today, Aug. 31. All Adult hard-cover and trade books – $1. Children's books – 50 cents each or 3/$1.

3. Labor Day Weekend Events

4. Increasing Gas Prices

Isaac was a Category One hurricane  when it made landfall on the Gulf Coast, but now as a tropical storm, it continues to wreak havoc in Louisiana and increase gas prices around the nation. ? Has it reached to $4.09?

Today should be as sunny as yesterday and a little warmer. The National Weather Service forecasts a high of 90 today. Saturday is expected to be sunny with a high near 80; Sunday is predicted to be partly sunny with temperatures near 80.
