1. Auditions for Drama to be Held in Library

Auditions for YCP Theater Works' production of Ernest Thompson's poignant drama "On Golden Pond" will be held on Aug. 28 and Aug. 30 at 7:30 p.m. at  in Shrub Oak. Performances are scheduled for early November at the Van Cortlandtville School Theater on Rt. 6, Mohegan Lake (opposite Cortlandt Town Center Shopping Mall).

ON GOLDEN POND is a charming slice of life play that encompasses universal family themes such as aging, regret at actions taken and not taken, disappointment, love, resentment, loss, forgiveness, acceptance and renewal. It deals with a family coming to grips with finality and reflection as to whether or not they "measured up." The setting is Golden Pond, Maine, the Thayer's summer retreat where they have come for a long time and where they face perhaps their last summer.

2. Vote for Hilltop Hanover Farm

The farm is nearing the . If they finish in the Top 10 on Aug. 30, they will be in with a shot of winning that orchard, rather than just a few fruit trees. 

An orchard would permit enhanced workshops and classes: canning, drying and preserving fruit; integrated pest management; organic growing techniques; pruning, site and variety selection.

To vote click on "Vote Now For Fruit", register on the Communities Take Route website, and vote for the Friends of Hilltop Hanover Farm, everyday until Aug. 30.

3. National Toll Free Teleconference for Women with Ovarian Cancer

 will have free National Toll-Free Teleconference for women with ovarian cancer on Tuesday, Sept. 18, from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. In addition to offering educational information, the teleconference format enables women living with ovarian cancer to make connections with and gain support from other survivors, regardless of where they live.
