Warm Weather Leads To Rain, Colder Temps, Possibly Snow
A powerful cold front will bring a shift in high temperatures of more than 20 degrees by Thursday.
HUDSON VALLEY, NY — It wouldn’t be wise to get used to the warmer weather Tuesday and Wednesday brings to the Hudson Valley.
Over the next two days, warmer temperatures will be accompanied by rain at times.
Unfortunately, a powerful cold front will follow, bringing a shift of more than 20 degrees by Thursday.

Below-freezing overnight temperatures will mean that any precipitation that has fallen could mean icy conditions in the morning hours. There is even a mention of accumulating snow in the forecast.
Winds could also pose a problem as the front moves through.

“Winds out of the south at 20-40 mph will be possible between Tuesday overnight into Wednesday evening,” Hudson Valley Weather said. “Clouds and precip will hinder the strongest gusts from reaching the surface.”
Here is forecast for the rest of the work week for Yorktown and Somers from the National Weather Service:
- Tuesday: A 40 percent chance of showers after 4pm. Increasing clouds, with a high near 59. South wind around 10 mph.
- Tuesday Night: Showers, mainly after 7pm. Low around 49. South wind 11 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
- Wednesday: Showers. High near 59. Breezy, with a south wind 17 to 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
- Wednesday Night: Rain showers, possibly mixing with snow after 1am, then gradually ending. Low around 28. Wind chill values between 15 and 20. Breezy, with a south wind around 21 mph becoming west after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 39 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
- Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 36. Breezy, with a west wind 20 to 24 mph, with gusts as high as 36 mph.
- Thursday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 27.
- Friday: Sunny, with a high near 46.
- Friday Night: A 30 percent chance of rain after 1am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 36.
