Westchester Man Arrested, Charged With Promoting Obscene Sexual Performance Of A Child: NYSP

The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children sent a CyberTipline report to state police about the 34-year-old Somers man.

SOMERS, NY — A Westchester County man has been accused of sharing disturbing video images depicting the sexual abuse of children, according to state police investigators.

The New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation at Somers says that, in collaboration with the New York State Police Troop K Computer Crimes Unit, they arrested 34-year-old Andrew J. Giannetta, of Somers, after a long-term internet crimes against children investigation.

In February of 2024, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children sent a CyberTipline report to the New York State Police about suspected child sexual exploitation material being shared through a social media platform.

An investigation zeroed in on Giannetta as the suspect, leading to the execution of a search warrant at his home. Several electronic devices were seized for forensic analysis.

After a review of evidence and consultation with the Westchester County District Attorney's Office, Giannetta was arrested on Wednesday, and was charged with two felony counts of promoting an obscene sexual performance by a child less than 17 years of age.

He was arraigned before the Somers Justice Court and then released on his own recognizance. Giannetta is scheduled to reappear in court on February 2.
