HUDSON VALLEY, NY — The official arrival of winter is still more than two weeks away, but the forecast says something else.

Partly sunny skies will give way to cloudy, breezy conditions this afternoon for most of the Hudson Valley, according to the National Weather Service. Northern Westchester, Rockland, Sullivan, Dutchess, Orange and Ulster counties have the potential for reduced visibility and slow travel tomorrow morning from snow squalls.

A Hazardous Weather Outlook is in place for northern parts of the region, including Ulster and Dutchess County, where widespread light snowfall is expected this afternoon through tonight, beginning at around 5 p.m.

Snow showers are possible as far south as Manhattan, but most precipitation is expected to come in the form a wintry mix that is expected to give way to high winds by the time the morning commute begins. A chance of rain showers remains before 10 a.m., then another slight chance of snow showers. The rest of Thursday will be partly sunny, with a high near 41.
