Yonkers Man Accusing Of Damaging Police Property In Yorktown

Police said the man ripped out phone wires and damaged a door.

YORKTOWN, NY — A Yonkers man in police custody was accused of damaging police property.

The Yorktown Police Department said Tyreek Lewis, 19, of Yonkers, was charged March 27 with fourth-degree criminal mischief, a misdemeanor.

Police said, around 2 p.m. March 27, Lewis was in custody at Yorktown Police Headquarters on an unrelated charge.

While in the booking room, police said, Lewis ripped phone wires out, making a police phone inoperable.

He then scratched several words into the paint on a booking room door, causing damage.

Lewis was sent to the Westchester County Jail for the unrelated charge.

He is due back in Yorktown Justice Court April 11 for arraignment on the criminal mischief charge.
