Yorktown Boy Wins 'Teach Children to Save' Essay Contest
Kyle Hanson won a $25 American Express gift card, a "Teach Children to Save" certificate and an Education First medal.

A 12-year-old Yorktown boy has won an essay contest, sponsored by Astoria Federal Savings, asking him to complete the statement, 'If I save a lot today, in the future I could…'
For his essay, Kyle Hanson won a $25 American Express gift card, a "Teach Children to Save" certificate and an Education First medal.
His winning essay was chosen out of about 1,000 essays which were received from bank branches throughout Westchester, Nassau, Suffolk, Queens and Brooklyn. Children ages 5-12 were eligible to enter the seventh annual essay contest. Kyle has submitted his winning entry in Somers.

Kyle's essay described what he would do with his savings – he said he would use his savings to build a library that would allow less fortunate students to learn and study science.
