Yorktown Man Accused Of Driving Drunk

Police initially stopped the man for speeding on Route 202.

YORKTOWN, NY — A Yorktown man was arrested after being accused of drunken driving.

The Yorktown Police Department said the man was charged Saturday with driving while intoxicated, first offense, and operate a motor vehicle, blood alcohol content of 0.08 percent, first offense, misdemeanors, and speed in zone, a traffic infraction.

Police said, shortly before 11:30 p.m. Saturday, an officer on patrol on Route 202 when he said he saw a vehicle speeding.

A traffic stop was conducted and identified the driver.

The officer said the man was driving while intoxicated by alcohol.

He was placed under arrest and taken to the Yorktown Police Department for processing. It was also found that he had a blood alcohol content of 0.08 percent or more.

After processing, the driver was issued traffic tickets for the charges and released on his own recognizance to a responsible adult

He is scheduled to appear in the Yorktown Justice Court April 18.
