YORKTOWN, NY — Yorktown faculty members have earned an achievement long held as a cornerstone of the free exchange of ideas in education.

The Yorktown Central School District announced that 17 faculty members have been awarded tenure, and that the district "proudly celebrates these outstanding educators and recognizes their remarkable achievements."

The tenure process involves a four-year probationary period (three years for those previously tenured elsewhere in NYS), during which candidates undergo a dozen formal observations and numerous informal check-ins. The district says that throughout their rigorous probationary period, the educators demonstrated exceptional commitment to their profession and integrated themselves into the school community.
