Yorktown Sets Deadline For Opening Of Long-Delayed Golf Course
The town initially entered into an agreement with the developer in 2014.

YORKTOWN, NY — The Yorktown Town Board voted Tuesday to set a deadline for the opening of a long-delayed municipal golf course.
The town said that RC Recreation Development has to open the nine-hole par 3 golf course for public use by Nov. 15 or the town will terminate the company's concession agreement.
Officials said RC Recreation has repeatedly given the town projected opening dates since it entered into an agreement to redevelop the golf course in 2014.

The most recent opening date given by the company was that the golf course would open July 4.
Supervisor Matt Slater said the town has sought to work with the developer to get the course open despite years of delays.

"Instead, we have received excuses and false promises while the developer or its employees violate our ordinances," he said, "including by having employees unlawfully live in this town park and by operating without a proper building permit since 2019."
The town said its inspectors visited the golf course July 6 and found many violations, including:
- Exposed and unprotected kitchen wiring.
- Exposed and uncovered exterior electrical trenches.
- Unapproved material used as an electrical conduit for an exterior lamp post.
- A non-permitted recreational vehicle trailer.
- An unauthorized connection to the main water line servicing the park (before the water meter).
- Incomplete bridges throughout the park without guardrails.
The Town Board also voted to advertise a request for proposals for the operation of the municipal golf course, with a deadline of 3:30 p.m. Sept. 29.
The proposed golf course is located at 795 Route 6 in Shrub Oak.
