Yorktown To Vote Tuesday In Supervisor Special Election

YORKTOWN, NY — Voters in Yorktown will be deciding who will be the next town supervisor.

Early voting ended Sunday, but the polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday.

The special election is being held to fill the unexpired term of supervisor that occurred when Supervisor Tom Diana died just days after taking the oath of office in January.

The unexpired term is through December 2025.

On the ballot are Deputy Supervisor Ed Lachtermann and Jan Mirchandani.

Lachterman, Republican, has worked in the hospitality industry for more than 40 years. He has served on the Town Board since 2016. He and his wife own two small businesses in Westchester. Lachterman also serves as a board member in the Yorktown Chamber of Commerce and is a member of the Business Council of Westchester.

Mirchandani, a Democrat, is a small business owner who has more than 35 years of executive board experience working with numerous nonprofits, including currently serving as council commissioner for the Greater Hudson Valley BSA and on the board of the Hudson Valley Gateway Chamber of Commerce.

Town Clerk Diana Quast said there are changes to some polling locations for which people should be aware.

They are:

  • Election District 2 was moved from the Elks Lodge to the Yorktown Town Hall, 363 Underhill Ave.
  • Election District 13 was moved from the John C. Hart Memorial Library to Lakeland High School at 1349 E. Main St.
  • Election District 16 was moved from the Yorktown Town Hall to the Albert A. Capellini Community & Cultural Center.
  • Election District 38 was moved from the John C. Hart Memorial Library to Lakeland High School, 1349 East Main St.
