- Buncombe County Recreation Services has scheduled visits to nearby pools, parks, and community centers as part of their outreach program called "CORE" (Community Outreach and Recreation Experiences). Aimed at children aged five to 15, these visits will offer a range of activities including yard games, pool activities, and various ball games. The program seeks to provide options and opportunities for local residents who may lack their own resources for summer entertainment. - The Hound, a lounge, restaurant, and bar, at the location of what was once Asheville's Greyhound bus terminal has relocated to 605 Swannanoa River Road and will be opening to the public at 5:00 p.m. on Jun. 22. The Tunnel Road-sited outpost of the regular downtown, River Arts District nightlife scene is centrally located just past the Beaucatcher Tunnel, in walking distance or a short drive away from east Asheville hotels, restaurants, and subdivisions. - While conducting a welfare check, the Asheville Police Department encountered Buddy Otvos, who confessed to smoking fentanyl inside his car. During the arrest and subsequent search of the vehicle, authorities discovered a cat named Archie along with a bag containing crystal methamphetamine. Otvos is now facing charges of methamphetamine possession and possession of drug paraphernalia, while Archie is currently under the care of the local police department. (WSPA 7 News)

- The City of Asheville Boards and Commissions has a number of openings available for application and the deadline is Aug. 2 at 5:00 p.m. They include but are not limited to the Affordable Housing Advisory Committee, Alcoholic Beverage Control Board, Civic Center Commission, Downtown Commission, Human Relations Commission, and more. - Three cats, now named Cats Sugar Magnolia, Tennessee Jed, and Morning Dew were found abandoned behind a building without food, water, and shelter. They are bonded together and appear to be littermates, and Humane Society staff are pleased to announce that they have recently all been adopted and will be at the same home! - An alleged drug dealer, Dion Lamont Lowman, who has been wanted for failing to make probation since April of 2022, was arrested with a stolen gun on the afternoon of Tuesday, Jun. 14. (Asheville Police Department via Facebook)
