  1. Asheville City Soccer Club's men's team secured a 2-0 victory over Tennessee SC at Greenwood Field. The win helped them maintain their position at the top of the South Central Division standings. Alex Andersson scored the opening goal with a skillful chip, while Simon Carlson sealed the victory with a goal in the final moments of the match. Asheville City Soccer Club has a chance to secure the division title in their upcoming game against North Alabama SC on Jul. 15. (WLOS)
  2. An earthquake with a magnitude of 2.2 struck near the Tennessee and North Carolina border, as confirmed by the United States Geological Survey. The earthquake occurred on Friday, Jul. 7, at 5:48 p.m. local time, approximately 11 kilometers southeast of Pittman Center, TN, and 29.2 kilometers southeast of Sevierville, TN. The quake had a shallow depth of four kilometers. (Fox Carolina)
  3. BeLoved Asheville, a nonprofit organization, has been awarded one of the 100 Lowe's Hometowns national grants. The $195,000 grant will expedite the completion of BeLoved Village, which aims to provide affordable housing by constructing 12 tiny homes with rent based on around 30 percent of the area's median income. The Lowe's Hometowns initiative supports community improvement projects across the country, and BeLoved Asheville was chosen from over 2,000 applicants for this grant. (WLOS)
