• MLK Day in Cabarrus County: Parade, Dream Day, Wreath Laying (charlotteonthecheap.com) — Concord residents can mark their calendars for a free MLK wreath-laying ceremony at Grace Lutheran Church on January 15, 2026, followed by Dream Day activities in nearby Kannapolis on January 19. The celebration includes a parade, health and organization fairs, an HBCU gallery, and a minority business fair, plus a ticketed Keeper of the Dream awards banquet.
   

• Charlotte Motor Speedway Sells Land To Hendrick Motorsports (bisnow.com) — Charlotte Motor Speedway has sold another 20-acre parcel near its Concord track to Hendrick Motorsports for $14 million, strengthening Concord’s role as a racing hub. The deal follows earlier Hendrick land purchases, a new technical headquarters near the Concord campus, and comes amid broader NASCAR business changes and a planned renovation of Charlotte’s NASCAR Hall of Fame.
