  1. On Thursday, Durham County deputies were involved in a crash following a pursuit that left one person injured and one of their dogs dead. At the time of the incident, the deputies were in an unmarked vehicle and conducting an investigation into drug trafficking. Deputies approached the individual being investigated at a business and they fled, leading deputies on a one-mile pursuit before deputies collided with a different vehicle. No deputies were injured, and the drug trafficking investigation is still open. (WRAL)
  2. Durham Police are investigating after a woman reported gunshots being fired toward her home. The incident occurred early Friday morning on Atlantic Street. When officers responded to the call, the woman told them that she was inside the home when somebody shot two bullets into the house. There were no reported injuries and no further details are available at this time. Anyone with information is encouraged to call Crime Stoppers at (919) 683-1200. (CBS 17)
  3. The Durham City Council and the Durham County Board of Commissioners are considering a request for over $6 million in grant funding from Housing for New Hope. The funds would go towards creating a new supportive housing campus, which would connect affordable housing units with services for people experiencing homelessness and who have a disabling condition. Housing for New Hope is aiming to purchase the Carver Creek Apartments, which is adjacent to property the organization already owns. This move could preserve affordable housing units in the existing apartment building as well as allow for the construction of up to 50 additional units and facilities for on-site services.
