1. The 2025 Durham Holiday Parade is this Saturday at 10 am (wral.com) — Downtown streets will fill with bands, community groups, and Wool E. Bull for the free Durham Holiday Parade this Saturday, Dec. 13, at 10 a.m. on Main Street. Plan ahead for parking, bring your own seating, and note restroom and performance-area locations, or stream the parade live from home if you’d rather avoid the crowds.
   

2. ‘Heartbreaking': Thief steals majority of donated hygiene products for Durham Public Schools students (cbs17.com) — Durham Public Schools is urgently seeking new donations after most hygiene and school supplies collected for more than 1,000 vulnerable students were stolen from a district building this week. Families who rely on the Family Resource Closet now face empty shelves, and neighbors are encouraged to drop off items at 808 Bacon Street or First Calvary Baptist Church.
   

3. Out-of-State Attorneys Have Room to Argue their Work for North Carolina Residents Does Not Create 'Minimum Contacts' (jdsupra.com) — A North Carolina Business Court case involving a Durham County home clarifies when out-of-state lawyers can be sued here for work done for local clients. Judges ruled that a Wyoming attorney advising a Durham-area resident on asset protection lacked sufficient contacts with North Carolina, offering guidance for future disputes involving cross-state legal services.
   

4. ICE agents once again operating in NC, activists say, including arrests in Durham (citizen-times.com) — Immigrant advocates say at least three people were recently arrested by ICE in Durham while heading to federal immigration interviews, part of what they describe as a large, monthlong enforcement operation across North Carolina. The group warns of potential school absences and economic strain as families react, while a top state lawmaker publicly praises federal immigration agencies and criticizes the activists’ response.
