82nd Soldier Found Dead in Fort Bragg Barracks Room

An investigation is underway for the cause of death.

An investigation is pending for the 3rd Brigade Combat Team soldier found dead in his barracks room on Sunday morning.

Pfc. Todd J. Patrick, 24, of Kiln, Miss. was a fire control specialist assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Battery, 1st Battalion, 319th Airborne Field Artillery Regiment.

The cause of Patrick's death is being investigated, Fort Bragg officials said on Tuesday.

"Private First Class Patrick was what we expect and want our paratroopers to be in the 82nd Airborne Division: physically fit, disciplined, and self-motivated," Lt. Col. Shane Morgan said in a news release.

After joining the Army in June 2011, Patrick completed basic training at Fort Sill, Okla., and basic airborne school at Fort Benning, Ga.

His awards and commendations include the Army Commendation Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Army Service Ribbon and the Parachutist Badge.
