ALERT: Ramsey Street Thefts of Trucks and Motorcycles Linked
Recent Vehicle Thefts along the northern Ramsey St corridor may be associated with an increase in Motorcycle Thefts.

Police are investigating stolen vehicles could be associated with motorcycle thefts.Â
During the week of July 8, 2013, the Fayetteville Police Department received two separate reports in which older style Chevrolet Trucks were stolen from residences along the northern Ramsey Street corridor. Thieves may employ the use of these vehicles to facilitate a motorcycle theft during this time of the year. The Fayetteville Police Department would encourage all citizens to secure their vehicles in an effort to prevent the theft and/or breaking and entering of their property.
Also, during that time frame, the Sector Lieutenant for that area noticed an increase in motorcycle thefts along the Ramsey Street corridor as well as other areas in the city. The majority of motorcycle larcenies occur within apartment complexes where the motorcycle has been left unsecured in the open. If the apartment complex has a fenced area or storage units for motorcycles, we encourage owners to use these facilities to protect their investment. If your apartment complex does not have such storage areas, park the motorcycle in a well lit area to prevent a would be thief from committing a larceny.
If you observe anything that appears to be suspicious regarding vehicles driving slowly through an apartment complex during the hours of darkness or someone loading a motorcycle into a vehicle during this timeframe, please call your local law enforcement agency to respond and investigate.
Anyone with information concerning the theft of Motor Vehicles / Motorcycles, is asked to call detectives with the Fayetteville Police Department at (910) 433-1856 or Crimestoppers at (910) 483-TIPS (8477).                                                                                   Â
