The Cumberland County Department of Public Health received a new shipment of 9,600 N95 masks which will be handed out at the health department starting Feb. 10.

The Health Department distributed 3,600 of the masks to community partners and will have 6,000 masks on-hand to hand out at their location, 1235 Ramsey Street in Fayetteville. Each person in a household will receive five N95 masks.

Following a surge in COVID-19 cases in December and January, the percent positivity rate is trending downward but remains high. The Cumberland County Department of Public Health continues to urge residents to get their COVID-19 vaccinations and booster shots as well as wear a well fitted mask, N95 or KN95 indoors, to help reduce infections and hospitalizations.

Cumberland County’s 14-day percent positivity rate is at 33%. However, the number of positive cases has dropped in the past three weeks. There were 2,107 cases in the most recent 7 days (Jan. 31-Feb. 6) compared to 4,775 cases in the previous 7 days (Jan 24-30).
