Devil Brigade to Host Inaugural Towle-Megellas Competition
Come out and watch these soldiers prove their mettle to see who is the best.

The 82nd Airborne Division’s 1st Brigade Combat Team is slated to host the inaugural Towle-Megellas Competition, Aug. 28-29, at Fort Bragg.
Designed to recognize the best squad of paratroopers and the best lieutenant in the Devil brigade, the contest will feature obstacle courses, parachute rigging tests, land navigation lanes and weapons qualifications. The competition is slated to culminate, Aug. 29, with 12-mile road march and an awards ceremony.Â

The competition is named for John R. Towle and James Megellas, both of whom served with the 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment during World War II. Towle was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor for gallant actions undertaken in Operation Market Garden and Megellas is one of the most decorated officers in the history of the All American division.
